1997 Ford Mondeo erroneous headlight fault

The headlights work fine, but the instrument panel indicates a red star next to the left-hand side headlight. This would suggest a sensor fault - but the manual doesn't appear to show any. Any clues on what the problem may be, or what to check?

Maybe that the bulb is defective as integrity sensor is flagging up a voltage difference ,or the connection is poor.check these first.

Other thing is a defective bulb on same circuit ,so check taillight,s also could be slightly black or poor contact.
