2001 Ford Mondeo black smoke,low mpg???

Year: 2001
Variant: 2lt Zetec TDDI

Had the car about 5 weeks and mpg seems to have dropped,juddery power delivery plus a whole lot of black smoke as i put my foot down (above 3,000 Rpm).
Seems to be over fueling itself,Don`t suspect turbo as no white smoke and lots of soot on rear around exhaust.
Any help greatly appericated.

Try cleaning the EGR valve first...

set of injectors they go out of calibration and dont recover should they accept re-calibration they will soon malfuction after little few hundred miles
