2001 Ford Mondeo temperature gauge slow to rise

Car: Ford Mondeo
Year: 2001
Variant: Estate 2.0 Ghia X
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
Hi
I have noticed recently that the temperature gauge on my Mondeo has been very slow to rise. Normally, it is up to the half-way mark after about a mile where it stops. However, for example, I drove ten miles yesterday, approximately seven of those were on a motorway, and the gauge had only just got up to the 1/3 mark at my destination. After about eight miles it had barely got off the bottom. The car seems fine otherwise. Has anyone any ideas as the cause of this please?

Have you filled the rad up with new/different coolant? Or even just topped it right up?

More water/more coolant means it will stay cooler longer.

Thanks Doug. No, I have not topped the radiator up at all. It hasn't had a service in recent months either.
