2001 Ford Mondeo starter cloging and spinning but not engaging the ring gear

the starter has failed in the past and I had to take this off and clean it, there was a lot of dust in the housing of the starter motor, once I cleaned the dust out the starter was ok, but this has happened more than once and I was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem. when it clogs it just spins and fails to engage with the ring gear

hi if it just spinning and not engaging its the solinoid on the starter thats faulty i used to build starters for a living and know thats the problem .

This is not good news for you this happened to me and it was the duel mass flywheel breaking down it will need changing ifv you allow it to go on not only will you have to replace the duel mass fly wheel and starter motor
