2001 Ford Mondeo wont start after new clutch fitted

hi i have a y reg mondeo tddi 3 years,no problems except between 2/3 revs hesitates a little.just had a new clutch fitted(conversion).now it wont start ,mechanic says its the pump ecu,he says its because he had the battery of,3 weeks now and still not fixed.is he looking in the wrong place(.need my car for work ,so any help will would be appreciated)

you need a scanner most garages have them. on data list simply check fuel rail pressure, if none check engine speed on cranking as the crank sensor may have been damaged, a short time with a scanner should find the problem.ps i had no battery on my old mondeo for 18 mounths and started on the key ,its more likly somethings been left unplugged or damaged .

Also check earth wire from engine / gearbox to body is fitted and tight .
