2002 Ford Mondeo fitting a crank shaft posistioning sensor

Hi, Please can you help me. I need to fit a new crankshaft posistioning sensor on my 2002 mondeo TDDI and wondered if anyone has managed to fit one of these from going in through the bonnet or do you have to get under the car and access it from below? Any advice on fittin one if you have done it before would be a great help.
