2004 Ford Mondeo is my clutch failing what would the symptoms be

when depressing clutch making funny noise when first happened little loss of power.

Symptoms could be a rattle or grinding noise when depressing the clutch pedal. This would be the release bearing on the way out.

Some of that year / model had DMFs (dual mass flywheels) which gave prodlems as you describe .

would i have to only replace the fly wheel or all the clutch if that is the problem ??

IF it was the flywheel , you have to remove clutch assembly any way to get at flywheel .You can get kits which includes all parts or if flywheel o.k , just a clutch kit .
