2001 Ford Mondeo antifreeze / coolant loss

Car: Ford Mondeo
Year: 2001
Variant: automatic saloon
Categories: Leaks & Noises
i have had to top up my antifreeze / coolant levels 3 times in the last 5 months.the levels have been below minimum.i cannot find any leaks.i topped up the expansion tank when i stopped as it was below minimum, i topped it up with 1 litre of coolant / antifreeze upto the maximum, then went for a drive about 7 miles or so.when i got home to check again it was still on the maximum, but when i started to remove the pressure cap on the expansion tank i noticed the coolant / antifreeze started to rise above maximum.does anyone have any ideas as to why i was losing antifreeze / coolant? and as to why the coolant / antifreeze started to rise way above maximum when i started to remove the cap slowly straight after i took it for a drive.i never let the car cool down, but was wondering if there was no leak where would the liquid have gone?was there a leak or was it normal to take liquid to below minimum?so why would it all start to fill the expansion tank to above maximum after i stopped and started to remove cap?

That is normal when you remove the cap when the system is still pressurised . Only top up to correct level when engine cold .

ok. but why have i lost so much soolant / antifreeze? just before i noticed this happening i had a crack in the air inlet manifold, i had the crack plastic welded by a mechanic, since then i have had to top up the coolant / antifreeze.could they have lost the coolant / antifreeze while doing the repair and never topped it up?

i topped up my antifreeze 3 weeks ago because it was below minimum mark on antifreeze / coolant tank / container.now 3 weeks later it has done it again, below minimum mark on tank.ive left a long tray under car over night to see if there is a leak, but the tray was dry in the morning.took car to a garage for them to have a quick check under car, but they never saw any leak either, they said the that there was pressure, and looks like its doing what it should they were baffled as to where the leak was.anyone have any ideas as to why im loosing anitfreeze / coolant? i need to sort this before winter.
