2006 Ford Mondeo noise from brakes when braking

Car: Ford Mondeo
Year: 2006
Variant: 2.2 ghia x tdci
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
I get a whuppp whuuuppp whuuuppp noise form my n/s front brakes when braking. Noise is not the same as worn pads but is just as loud or even louder. It is only audible for about the last 50 yards or so of braking to a halt and as soon as you take your foot of the brake it stops. Ford garage are baffled (whats new) and have changed discs pads and caliper. The noise is only there in forward motion. It doesnt happen when braking in reverse. The noise goes off when the brakes have been taken apart for new pads etc or goes off even if you take them apart and dont replace anything but comes back on again within a day or so. The longest it stayed off was when the caliper was changed and lasted about a week without making the noise. Any suggestions please. Thanks.

you need to put a edge on the pad. make sure every thing is clean. also poss could be wheel bearing. i would take it to independant garage for thire view if they dont know try someone else. dont pay untill the noise has gone.

HI - I have exactly the same problem (amongst many others with my Mondeo!) - had new brakes and pads fitted due to vibration under braking. Now has this fault - dealer took back and I think just put copperslip on back of pads - was ok for day or so but now back worse than ever - sounds awful! Was intrigued by suggestion about putting edge on pads? Also wheel bearing idea might be good but have no evidence of this when driving.

HELP!
