2001 Ford Mondeo central locking engages while driving

bit of a weird one this, but somebody might have come across it before. I'll be driving and sometimes the car locks all the doors for no apparent reason. the key fob hasn't been touched. It can be as soon as I set off or 30 mins down the road, also happened when my wife got out the car with the keys still in it but ignition off(thankfully i had a spare). as far as I know it doesn't unlock itself.

Some Mk3 Mondeos had the anti-hijack option fitted which locks doors when you reach a certain speed . It may have a fault and is working intermittently .This article explains how it's set up .

Anti Hijack Feature
1. Turn on ignition until the dash lights come on but don't start engine!
2. Lock the door using the lever on the door handle and then unlock 3 Times
3. Turn off ignition
4. Repeat 2 but with ignition OFF
5. Turn on ignition - should hear a beep
6. Lock door again as in 2 BUT ONLY ONCE - final beep should be heard
7. Done!
Doors should now lock at around 5mph. including reverse!!! "

I have fixed a couple of Mondeo's with this exact fault. I hope this helps you. Water was coming into the car from under the wiper scuttle under the bonnet as the drain holes were blocked & the water was affecting the electrics.
