2005 Ford Mondeo surging when cold

my car surges when on tick over normally from cold or after its been parked up for a few hours

it been back in garage under warranty they replaced some senser since then im only on average 44mpg before this i was getting 50mpg

can anyone help please

May have been engine coolant temp sensor that tells ECU how much fuel needed .That would explain " surging when cold " because too lean a setting till warmed up .
