Gearbox make load nouse

when slowing down in the car the gearbox makes a loud banging sound but if you press the clutch it stops making the sound , if you take your foot off the clutch then it makes the noise again.

sounds like a gearbox rebuild required if you ask me but have this checked out first as it may even be the release bearing worn out or on its way so have these checked firstly
