Wont start

1998 Ford Maverick 2.7tdi long wheelbase
Car: Ford Maverick
Year: 1998
Variant: 2.7tdi long wheelbase
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
had car in garage for electrical fault, turned out to be damaged rear light wiring causing relay problems, now fixed but garage says that the battery is not holding charge ie ran car for 2 hrs and charged battery for 6 hrs but this morning still wont start, have requested replacement battery due to being only 6 weeks old and under 3 year gaurantee, but shop says that it will not be battery fault, if this turns out to be the case any suggestions.
