when changing lock as when doing three point turn i am getting getting nasty clunking sounds also when traveling slowly over rough ground no wear on tyres all seems to be working properly

Case of getting steering / suspension checked .Examine coil springs ,front anti roll bar drop links , s/absorbers and mountings etc.

knackered cv joints,check the gaiters are not split,as well as checking steering/suspension components for excess play

sounds like cv joint knackered. but as whittingeham ans simon stated get suspension and steering checked for play etc
