Flashing engine warning light

Hello when driving my car today the engine warning light started flashing, then it would stop and then start flashing again after a minute or so. The car has felt sluggish for a while, and feels like it could cut out at a junction. It has also recently started juddering whilst idle, and now the engine sounds very noisy.
