2000 Ford Focus hesitant acceleration ???????

My ford focus 1.8 ZETEC is hesitating when i accelerate going up the gears to 3rd gear & when going back down the gears at corners, up hills etc I just wondered if anyone could suggest a few things i can try. the car was serviced nov 2010 i.e air filter,oil filter, and oil, new plugs & HT leads etc but no change when the car was serviced I also had the timing belt done?? then 85000 miles ANY HELP VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
