2006 Ford Focus help!!! engine management light flashing and loss of power

Car: Ford Focus
Year: 2006
Variant: 1.6 Auto
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi, this morning my car suddenly lost power and the engine management light has started to flash continuously. I managed to limp into work but can't get the car into a garage till tomorrow and I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what this could be? (scared of cost!!) The car also juddered when it was idling at junctions or pulling away and it was quite noisy. Could this be something simple like a filter??

Could be something simple like coil pack , leads , plugs etc . Should show up fault if they carry out diagnostic scan and see what fault codes show .

As already said it sounds like a plug lead/coil pack issue causing the vehicle to go onto 3 cylinders. If you havnt already put car to garage then remove the cover that ion top of engine so you can get to the plug leads and remove each lead and look for white colouring in the end that connects to the plugs as these cars are known for the leads to start shorting on the head which means the spark plug doesnt get enough power to give a good spark.I get a few of these in and the fix is to get some silicon grease from a motor factor and pack it into the end of the lead and reconnect to plug and this usually works for long enough.

Turns out it was a coil pack and also the plugs, got it fixed quite quickly but now the car has taken to juddering when I accelerate. Could this be related to the plugs/coil pack being changed? No engine management light this time but it's a bit of a pain, when I pull out at junctions it would be like trying to pull out in a high gear in a manual car!

Had similar. replaced the coil, leads and plugs but like you it is hesitant to pick up at around 1000-1500 rpm. Would be interested in what you found fixed it
