2002 Ford Focus 1.6
Car: Ford Focus
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.6
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
After driving for 20 mins, the speedo goes to 0 mph. After 10 mins it goes back to registering the correct speed. This is repeated.
Must be electrical, but what?

Could be speed sensor but check wiring / plug at sensor first .

Many thanks Whittingehame for replying to speedo problem. Where is the speed sensor located?

It's on gearbox , held in with a pin which is usually seized and can be awkward to remove .See this re. someone replacing sensor ,

Re: Ford Focus vehicle speed sensor
Did this on my Focus the part is £28 but it took 3 hours to do as it would not come out....Nasty to do laid on a floor (which I did), would be better to do on a ramp....Also cut my hand to bits doing it....I will have a garage do it for me if I ever got to do one again. As my local garage quoted me £20 to fit............

Hope this helps you .
