Gear box slipping

The gear box has started slipping,in about 3rd gear am driving it but it is getting worse. What is best to get a reconditioned gear box (expensive) or one from breakers yard. Anybody know where to get a reconditioned gear box from

Check Yellow Pages for auto transmission specialists in your area .Usually find they are cheaper and quicker as that is all they do .Could phone and ask for advice / price of repair or recon box .

its a automatic then i take it have you checked the oil level in the transmission as if low will not function correctly this level must be checked while the engine is running or you will get false readings if you checked it not running hope this helps
