2000 Ford Focus overheating/coolant system bleed

Car: Ford Focus
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.8 Zetec Petrol
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Had a problem with our Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec yesterday, the plastic hose that sits on top of the rad had split along the seam causing loss of coolant. I ordered and fitted a new part from Ford today but im still concerned...

Temp gauge sits fine but the rad and pipework is red hot, heater seems hotter than normal as well, does anyone know if there is a specific bleed procedue for the zetec or if there is any other know problems?

Regards Chris

Hi Landy - very interested in your post regarding the overheating. Does my problem sound familiar? Is your driver compartment heating up due to the radiator hoses being so hot?

to be honest I havent run it for that long to get that hot, took it for a quick spin today and im convinced that its a air lock, could yours have a air lock down by the heater area or simular?

sounds like an air lock in cooling system. remove cap of cooant tank and run engine for a bit. if not air locked then maybe its a coolant temp sencor. get diagnostic test if it percists
