Hi, Just in the past few days i've noticed when i'm increasing my speed even in 2nd gear or 5th, the air rushing through the air vents increases & it's getting louder. It can last for a few secs to about 10-15 secs. Any idea what is going on. Should i be worried. Many thx Johnny680

Only thing I can think of which would cause the heater fan speed to increase would be if alternator was giving problems . I.e if output was surging and putting out more power , or sticking then kicking in , if you know what i'm getting at. Easy ,2 mn job to load up electrical system and test alternator output .Only other thing I can suggest , maybe heater motor / resistor pack on it's way out .Hope this helps .

Did you manage to get this fixed? Had same problem past few days and now I've got the "Engine Systems Fault" light on. Car is now in driveway and I'll be calling garage tomorrow. Just trying to get an idea to plan for the bank balance drop!

Just a follow up in case anybody else experiences this. I don't know what the cause was in johnny680's case but after visit to the garage today my problem, with the same symptoms, turned out to be a split in my boost pipe. I had a total cost of £72 (only took £10 labour) to replace and all is well again.

Hi there, my car is also making this noise (started a few days ago) and my local ford gargage are hinting that it's my turbo. They've told me to check my oil level but guess what? I can't get the bonnet open because the lock isn't catching! Any help greatly appreciated before I have to maybe spend a fortune unnecessarily.

Thanks

Took my car to the gargage - turns out that it's the coolerant pipe that needs replacing along with a cyclinder. Now also need new front grill and latch. Why doesn't Ford see this as a safety issue? At the end of the day - if you can't get your bonnet open, how are you supposed to check oil levels to prevent your turbo going in the first place and maybe causing an accident due to the severe and sudden lose of power? I really think Ford need to look again at this fault - it's prevalent in other ford makes too.
