hi my ford focus is loosing power mostly when changing from 4ht to 5th gear you could be going 60mph and it would drop down to about 50mph with foot on accelator also the car seems to be very heavy on fuel about 35mpg any ideas plz. also when refuelling sometimes car wont start up first time and some noise coming from exhaust like a tin or can rattling noise

wouldnt be a blocked fuel filter or air filter then?? i dont think car has been serviced for 25000 miles just seen the service sticker

wouldnt be a fuel or air filter then?? i just seen the service sticker and it says was serviced on 101000miles and now theres 126000 miles on clock

If not been serviced for that length of time , would be good idea as you suggest to change fuel filter , air filter and also plugs first and see if improvement on performance etc. Rattle on exhaust could be heat shield or possibly baffle plate in silencer. Running into any fast fit centre will get you a free exhaust check . As mentioned , could also be cat .Hope this helps .
