2001 Ford Focus number plate bulbs not working

Hi,
I was changing one of my numberplate bulbs when i saw a spark and the other bulb stopped working aswell (Silly of me to do this with the light on I know!). So I checked the manual and decided to change the fuse, but there wasn't one there for the nuber plate lights. I put one in but the lights still don't work. Any ideas?

usually the number plate lights run off one of the side light circuits have you checked those fuses
