2000 Ford Focus engine missfires and untill its warmed up

i stoped at my sisters drive when i got back in the car it started ok but then it started to missfire and splutter as if the choke is not working when i excelerate it misfires and juders then it will run ok but as soon as i try to go faster it starts again then runs ok after a while it does get a bit better but it keeps coming back ,,
i did drive the car very low on petrol and it was parked on a good slope ,, ive changed the spark plugs and air filter
and it did stop for a few days then it started again ,whats the spark plug gap settings it is a vetec engine
can any one please help

check ht leads pull out spray with wd 40 start engine if lead blows out of hole replace set,bit of animal way but very effective if leads break down wd ignites spark
