Paint on car looks scratched
2007 Ford Focus 1.8 zetec

the paint (silver) on the sides of my car seems to be deteriorating in certain areas. Random scratch like patterns have appeared over the last few months and in places they are almost white. Some areas look like they have been brushed with a wire brush, fine scratch like marks. Others are more pronounced, random in shape, almost like a chemical reaction. Any ideas please?

Replies and fixes

Hard to say on a 15 yr old car unless you have had it from new . Could have had bodywork / paintwork done previously , sounds as if it's through to the primer in areas . Scratches could have been done with someone using a buff . Chemical reaction you would think would have shown long before now .
