2005 Ford Focus rev counter goes up and down then stalls

Car: Ford Focus
Year: 2005
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
When I am stuck in traffic the car judders, the rev counter goes up and down and then stalls.

I have taken the car into a garage and they have replaced two sensors and the problem still persists. They have told me there is another sensor that they can replace but I just wondered if anyone else knows exactly what the problem is as I don't think the garage know themselves.

not 100% but i would have said the idle speed control valve is at fault with you saying the revs are up and down have this checked out and possibly cleaned out and replaced should do the job on its own with out replacing any sensors

check for vacuum laeks i would suspect a speed sensor or idle valve
