2006 Ford Focus loss of power

Car: Ford Focus
Year: 2006
Variant: 1.8tdci
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi, after work today, I filled my car up with diesel and set off for home. About 30 mins in to the journey, I was overtaking on the fast lane of the motorway, I lost power and had to pull over to the hard shoulder as I was doing about 50mph. I stopped, turned the engine off and when I turned the car on, power was there. I drove the car home but and there was acceleration. the car felt different but I dont whether that was me over analysing things. Any ideas?

would be timing gone out caused by the cam posistion sensor, really common but check basics like inter cooler pipes and filters 1st
