After cam belt renewal had a problem with crankshaft pulley bolt coming undone(thought I had not fully tightened it).

After head removal and valve replacement etc. Same thing has happened again crankshaft pulley bolt came undone again this was tightened to the correct torque. I am puzzled why this has done this again. Is there a any thing else than the bolt and washer?

Apart from the expense the time taken to remove head etc to start all over again. Any ideas why the crank shaft pulley bolt has come undone? Help!

Cheers Derek

hi the trick is to use lock tight on the last 6 threads and oil the washer so that you are actually tightening the bolt no creating drag betwen pulley and washer

Hi are you using a new bolt as it is recomennded that you renew the bolt when you replace the timing belt, also there is two different length bolts,i would also check that the faces of the gear and pulley are spotless as you may have some build up of dirt etc which is holding the pulley off slightly so when you are torquing the bolt it is not actually as tight as it should be
