Problem added: Dec 1, 2015 (8 years ago)
Hi put the switch on the blower on a different settings .It only puts the aircon on the top settings.

Above post is rubbish , there is a humidity sensor that triggers the air con for best setting for demisting screen etc . and this is why it comes on .(Same on most Fords ) Can be annoying having to manually switch off , especially if not noticed it has cut in . Setting time , date and year usually straight forward by scrolling menu and adjusting same

Forgot to add , air con comes on lower settings also .

On my Ford the aircon only comes on automatically on the top settings. When I move it to the lower settings it does not come on automatically. I have the same issue.

What year is your Fiesta ? I cant remember when it was introduced , possibly 2008 onwards . Just checked both a 2015 Fiesta and a 2011 Ford Focus and this applies to both .It is a very common question and no matter what settings stops the air con coming on .

Climate control / Automatic climate control on your Fiesta ? Newer Fiestas have the solar sensor for Climate Control .It's the small dome in front of the windscreen air vent . Many fords have them

Ford Focus 1.8 2009 plate - AC coming on when selecting windscreen heater - FP

"I can't think its normal for air conditioning to come on when heater is blowing."

As others have said, it's not the cooling function that's important here, it's the de-humidifying and it can make a lot of difference to the speed at which a misted-up screen will clear. You can always switch it off when it's done the job.

Many cars with a/c have had this automatic setting for years.

Ford Focus 1.8 2009 plate - AC coming on when selecting windscreen heater - Peter.N.

I would concur, the dry air coming from the evaporator will clear the screen very much more quickly than hot air alone, especially in humid conditions.
