2009 Ford Focus losing power and stalling intermittantly

Car: Ford Focus
Year: 2009
Variant: 1.6 TDCi Zetec
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help - really tearing my hair out over this!!

My 09 Focus has an intermittant issue - when I'm driving along (and sometimes while stationary), all power to the engine goes, and the engine cuts out. When I'm driving and it does it, it feels like I've hit the brakes; the revs carry on, but when I coast to a standstill, it stalls and cuts out. I can normally re-start it, but it happens 2 or 3 times in a row!

I'm not very technical I'm afraid, and it's just passed it's service - they couldn't see any obvious faults anywhere. I have had the DPF replaced as well, and this was happening prior to then (the DPF was causing a separate stuttering issue).

Thanks!

There must be a fault code registered. Have you had the codes read?
