I have a 2009 ford focus 1.6 zetec s and i fill the car up with petrol (50L/£65) on the trip computer it only does 34.3mpg at the highest and thats also with motorway driving but when i go on fuel converter and online it says i should be doing adleast 39-40mpg at the least so does anyone know what could be the solution.

The published fuel consumption figures given by the manufactures are mostly achieved in false conditions, not true road conditions,
I doubt anyone will achieve the stated mpg, but its not the cars fault, its driving habits, lead foot , stop start traffic, weather and condition of car,
fuel consumption is all about how you drive the car, take myself for instance I never reach anywhere near he stated mpg figures due to my heavy right foot.
