2004 Ford Focus dash lights inside speedo casing flickering

When driving along at night the display light for speedo and dials flicker every now and then and also the dimming switch for display lights if touched makes the lights flicker,
any ideas please let me know

May be a bad earth cable connection.
Have an auto electrician look at it.
