2002 Ford Focus engine not starting

The car has been making a squeaking noise for a bit and this morning started the car as usual, went into reverse and then back into first and the car just stalled. Now it turns over but not the same noise as before. Doesn't even sound like it has anything to catch to start. Would appreciate any help, regards

By what you describe it sounds as though the cambelt may have broken, if you say it now sounds different when you turn it over
