Cruise control

2009 Ford Focus 2.0 dci powershift automatic.
Car: Ford Focus
Year: 2009
Variant: 2.0 dci powershift automatic.
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
When I drive at 70mph on the accelerator my revs are 2100 app. When I switch on cruise the revs increase to 2500. I would just like to know if this is the normal way that cruise control works on this model. I get this 20% increase in revs at all speeds when I engage cruise. I think it wastes fuel.

Many thanks Mr suzuki.
I have had two ford dealerships service centres look at the car. The first said that when they get another car like mine in they will take me on a test run to see how the cruise works on that automatic focus. The second said that they had reprogrammed it and it was fine.
does anyone know of a good automatic gearbox fixer in the West Midlands as I think I need some expert advice. I have written to Ford UK but they have not yet replied. But at last I seem to be getting somewhere.
Many thanks
