2003 Ford Focus C-Max car door won't open

Car: Ford Focus C-Max
Year: 2003
Variant: 1.4 zetec tdci
The passenger side door will open from the outside perfectly, but will not open using the internal door handle at all. It has always been a bit funny, or tempremental, but now won't open at all. Any ideas please? Thanks

a simple door strip to find the problem cable can be adjusted
