2004 Ford Focus C-Max have to hit the dashboard to get the car to start

Car only starts when I hit the dashboard

The instrument cluster fault is a known fault , Here are a couple of videos if you want to try and repair yourself rather than send away for repair .Don't know if electrical cleaner would be better than WD40 though .
