Alternator

2004 Ford Focus C-Max 1.8 Ghia petrol
Car: Ford Focus C-Max
Year: 2004
Variant: 1.8 Ghia petrol
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Alternator recently failed. After looking at the location of the unit, decided to take it to local garage rather than tackling the job myself. The garage have quoted £495, stating that a ford genuine part is required. If a pattern part is fitted (around £150 cheaper) the battery warning light will remain on constantly.
Has anyone else had similar issues, this seems very expensive to me.

Never heard of that .I would be changing my parts supplier if that was the case.Could be wrong, I dont know everything but sounds rubbish. Not as if it's a new car and it was dealer only part .For instance , look on e bay and you will see plenty of OE alternators for that car at a fraction of price you have been quoted .I would try elsewhere for another price .
