2006 Ford Focus C-Max engine system fault

Car: Ford Focus C-Max
Year: 2006
Variant: 1.6 TDCI LX
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
2006 1.6 tdi focus c-max

Basically car was in for service just over a week ago, the following day the systems fault and red light came on. This appears to be coming on when accelerating on an incline, and mostly when car gets to 55mph. Once light and message show the power seems to die and lose acceleration up hill and stays like this until I turn engine off and on again.

Acceleration on flat is fine (unless really put the foot down) and car is running great as normal, even drives at 80 on motorway including accelerating so long as I don't accelerate going up hill.

Had back into garage and they couldn't get code, so took back in with light and message displaying and a turbo fault code was registered.

Garage has checked the turbo, egr valve, all hoses etc and everything seems to be fine. Suggested going to Ford garage and ask them to check programming.

Air filter was replaced in service, could this be causing the problem?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

sounds to me that there could be a fuel starvation problem or a boost control fault.. Was a GENUINE fuel filter used on service? have found some afrermarket ones caused me the same headache... just an idea...

Thanks for your response, appreciated.

The filter was definately changed at the service, will have to check the paperwork at the time to see if it was a genuine filter, will check asap. The fault only happened straight after the service and mot when the filter was changed.

Also if the fuel filter was not seated correctly, then it will be sucking in air and bringing the warning light on...

Thanks for your replies.

I'll see about buying a genuine ford fuel filter and get local garage to fit and see if that solves the issue.
