Engine misfiring

2003 Ford Fiesta 1.4 Ghia
Car: Ford Fiesta
Year: 2003
Variant: 1.4 Ghia
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
My engine light came on last week. Diagnosis was new Lambda Sensor required (P0130), which I had done, and P0704 Clutch Swith Input Circuit. The garage didn't know what the second fault was but the light went out and everything seemed fine. After 4 days I now find that it feels like I'm driving on a bumpy road all the time (forgive the non-technical term, couldn't think how else to describe it). It's present at all speeds (but not idling). Any help would be appreciated because I think I may have been ripped off with the sensor (cost £100 but only took 10 minutes to fit so labour charge can't have been high). Thanks

Could be coil pack, plugs, leads or MAF sensor needing cleaned / replaced .It is only a ten min job to replace Lambda sensor and prices vary depending on where part bought .

Many thanks for your reply. I'll ask the garage to check all these. Any idea what the clutch fault is and whether I should be worried? I presume a new clutch will be very expensive!

Re. the fault code p0704 this explains what it means but I didn't think there was a switch on your car to trigger it , but could be wrong . If clutch is operating o.k and no slip or problems , i'd just ignore it unless a fault develops . Maybe someone else on forum has came across it on your car and will advise .

I've had the car at garage today. They found my spark plugs had rusted due to water getting into them. Had new plugs and leads fitted but didn't feel much different driving the 20 miles home. Am hoping this will improve the more miles I do, or is this a stupid assuption?

Dont hold your breath thinking it will improve !!!!! Have you not thought of changing your garage ?
Answered Jul 5, 2011 (12 years ago)
Forgot to add , the water in plug wells on that car is a known / common fault and if they haven't done anything to cure it , it will recur .

Problem will only improve when the problem is cured.
Good idea to change your garage. Sounds like they are clutching at straws and fobbing you off.

They said they had dried everything out and I think they said they'd used a protective sealant or something. I didn't listen too well cos I was still reeling at having to shell out another £93 on top of the £135 last week! They didn't know what was causing the water to get in but showed me where to check that the water level (pink stuff) wasn't dropping.Think my next job is to find a garage by recommendation, where being a clueless female isn't a disadvantage (if one exists). Thank you so much for your help.
