2002 Ford Fiesta can't open engine compartment lid

My oil pressure light has come on. I want to open the engine lid so I can add some oil. Pulling on the link to open the lid has no effect. The cable could have broken or the lid has jammed.
What can I do to gain access?

You will have to get at lock from underneath or through grille to open mechanism by hand .

try getting someone to press down on the bonnet whilst you pull the lever then get them to pull up will probably wrk if the cable has not snapped
