Hard Gears and dodgy clutch

2004 Ford Fiesta 1.25 LX
Car: Ford Fiesta
Year: 2004
Variant: 1.25 LX
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
I recently used my car and found that when selecting each gear, I had to ram it in, this was obviously not normal. Then the car started feeling like it was dying when I slowed down with the clutch pressed in. I checked the brake fluid and this was ok. I can still drive around but very awkwardly. I dont want to do any more damage. Thanks for any suggestions...

No noises being made, but yeah I figured it wasn't releasing far enough, could it be possible that it just needs adjusting? Trying to save myself going to a garage and getting ripped off by them doing unnecessary jobs :)

On that car you can get problems with clutch plate sticking / dragging , causing first and reverse gear especially to crunch when engaging .It is a self adjusting hydraulic clutch , so you cant adjust . If it's happening in all gears you could have a fault with the hydraulics i.e master cyl or slave cyl .You could try bleeding clutch and see if it helps. If not that you will probably need a new clutch assembly kit. The slave cyl .is located in the gear box & incorperates the release bearing .
