Strange noises when car is idle

when my car engine is on and is idle, after approximately 30 sec to a minute it makes strange squeeking noises. When i push down on the accelerator the noise stops and again after 30 sec or so its back. Its not a constant noise. it quickly makes it then stops, and so on. Any Ideas? It has passed its MOT about a month ago and nothing major showed up then

push down clutch pedal does noise go?. if so gearbox bearings.common fault no action reqd till noise gets bad.

Could be squeak from alternator / belt .Sometimes a squirt with WD40 cures .
