Judder on pull away and gear change problems

2001 Ford Fiesta freestyle 1.25
Car: Ford Fiesta
Year: 2001
Variant: freestyle 1.25
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I was towing a medium sized trailer along a dual carriageway and accellerated hard in second gear. Immediately following this i have noticed several problems with the cars transmission. when pulling away there is a slight juddering when the clutch engages in 1st gear, yet there is no obvious sign of slipping. Under acceleration the car also will not go into 3rd or 4th gear without either some effort or releasing, and pressing down the clutch a second time. Doesn anyone know what the cuase could be? Is this related to the hydraulic clutch? or is it more likely to be something with the box itself?

Thanks for your help.

Just sounds like a worn cluch to me ,try to pull away with your hand brake full on,if your car stall's,thats a sign,(usually that the clutch plates are ok,(or high rev's,and slipping, clutch, parts worn,(could be air in you system,) but sounds to me like you need a new clutch,(if your in the AA or RAC,ask them for there opinion) good luck
