1996 Ford Fiesta intermittent problem changing gear

Car: Ford Fiesta
Year: 1996
Variant: 1.3 Encore
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
I have a reoccurring problem changing gear in my 96 fiesta which happens from time to time. I could be driving along fine for a week or more and then if I get caught in traffic, which involves a lot of driving in and out of first gear the clutch begins to give trouble.

When the clutch is engaged and the car is in gear it begins to bite as if it is going to shunt forward. After this happens it becomes very difficult to engage any gear and sometimes requires some force to get it to engage. There is no grinding when changing gears at all.

Then the problem can go away and the car drives perfectly for another week or so before the problem reoccurs.

sounds like you have a problem with the clutch maybe the springs are collapsing and the release bearing pushing through the centre
