My wife has a 98 1.25 zetec fiesta automatic,you start the car,with your foot on the brake,put it into drive or reverse,and the engine surges,and rocks,it wants to go,when you take your foot of the brake it shoots of like a rocket,its not using to much fuel,its not the tick over,thats only 750 revs,it does it from cold or hot ,and does not go away,its been on a diagnostic,they said it is not showing any problems,which cost £45,it also stalls some times,when you put it in to drive,ones your driving it drives great,if you stop at lights,you have to leave it in drive with your foot on the brake,because if you go into neutral,and then into drive the car surges,and some times stalls,can any one help please,thanks

check the transmission oil level to do this the car needs to be running or you will get false readings and you may have to top up the oil in the transmission and this will resolve the problems

thanks thomkas_cars for you help,tried that,but did not help,put the car in to fords,it is the clutch plate in the auto box,needs a modified clutch plate,that should have been done on a re call on this model,

Hi

I have the exact same problem and took into the garage they said it was the clutch and that the gear box needed to be remodified. I have had the work done and now no judder when going into drive etc. The thing now is it stalls when first started and put into either neutral or drive.
Once the car gets moving everything is fine.

Can you let me know if you have sorted the problem and what works you had done to the car to sort problem.
