1998 Ford Fiesta juddering when accelerating

Recently my fiesta zetec has started to judder when I change up into 3rd, 4th and 5th. It feels like you have changed into the next gear up to early (thats not the reason in this case though!). Its almost like the car is holding the power back, then it kind of goes and the car accelerates like normal. Sometimes it holds back power in a new gear for some time, during which the speed of the car drops and I have to change back down again anyway.
Any help would be much appreciated!

sounds like an ignition missfire, doed it miss if reved from idle out of gear?if so id check leads ist plugs should be ok prob platinumb
