Car has been driving fine since purchased in January 2018
over the last couple of days there has suddenly been a strong smell of diesel inside the car and a couple of small damp patches on the drive that look like oil,I have checked under the car and the sump and gear box are bone dry with no signs of any leaks. Thanks for any ideas you might have.

Have a look at the base of the injectors for brown residue,
injector seals can give out which is definitely not a good thing.
If they're fine check for leaks in the black return pipes from each injector.
