1996 Ford Fiesta stalling when cold

Just bought a fiesta auto with a zetec engine and when engaging drive or reverse within first 30mins of starting up car either stalls or tries very hard to!!! Could it just be spark plugs or something more sinister???????

ctx gearbox are terriable for it they have an internal clutch with common to fail but check transmission oil if ok would send to a gearbox specialist
