2002 Ford Fiesta problems with air conditioner when turn on

When i turn on the air con, ticking sound appeared every 2-3 second. and every time waiting at traffic light and when i go, it get high rumbling sound n it wont change to gear 2. during that moment my car feel heavy and slow moving even i press accelerate. even i change to manual transmission; still i get that problem.
BUT when air con is NOT turn on. everything is normal. by the way my gear is Durashift Est. any solutions?

I would suggest the ticking sound is the air conditioning compressor if it feels like the car is then struggling it may be that the compressor is faulty and putting to much load on engine as you say when not switched on car is fine
