Hi, the heat shield above the back box is hanging down onto the back box and making an annoying rattle. The heatshield has corroded around the fixing points causing it to drop. I was thinking of using a drinks can to patch it but not sure if i can get acess without dropping the exhaust. Alternatively can i just take it off completely and forget about it?

The heat shield is there for a reason, I would not remove. All you need to do, is get some big washers, remove the nuts and the big washers will hold the shield in place...
